Bebo is the sexiest vegetarian

The size zero debate has failed to stop Kareena Kapoor from clinching the Sexiest Vegetarian Celebrity of 2008 title by PETA India. Interestingly, Bebo won the same title last year, too, along with South Indian actor R. Madhavan.

“If my fans are looking up to me and have turned vegetarian, then I am happy about it. I am a pure vegetarian and it helps me keep fit and healthy,” said Kareena, who shares the honour with cricketer S. Sreesanth.

What is interesting is that Kareena has beaten several international celebrities such as Pamela Anderson and musician Sir Paul McCartney.

She has also left behind Indian celebs including Vidya Balan, Mallika Sherawat, model Shamita Singha, Aditi Govitrikar and designer Anita Dongre.

“Kareena and Sreesanth are living proof that compassion and sexiness definitely go hand in hand,” according to PETA India’s official website.

Shahid Kapoor and Balan garnered the next highest number of votes after Bebo and Sreesanth. Also in the fray were Olympic Bronze medallist Sushil Kumar and fashion designer Hemant Trivedi.

“Kareena has a great figure and is looking fabulous. The fact that she is a vegetarian makes her a hot favourite among fans,” said Anuradha Sawhney, chief functionary of PETA India. On the other hand, Sreesanth is the “surprise winner” in 2008.

The Indian pacer has been described “as easy on the eyes as he is hard on his opponents” by PETA India. “A young and exuberant player who has got the moves on the pitch and on the dance floor, it’s no wonder that the ‘prince of hat-tricks’ has been crowned our king of veggie Valentinos,” the PETA India stated.

Coming back to Kareena, it seems she is on an award-winning spree. She has just received the young achiever award by the Rotary International for her contribution to Hindi cinema. “I’ve always done what I have believe in and I follow my heart. I’m very humbled by this award,” she said. There’s more. The actress will soon be awarded by the American environmental activist Erin Brockovich for her contribution to cinema. “That is also an international award, and it will be very special because I will receive it from her (Erin),” said Bebo.

Meanwhile, Kareena is having the time of her life with several plum assignments. She is doing Akshay Kumar-starrer Kambakht Ishq, Rajkumar Hirani’s Three Idiots with Aamir Khan, besides Main Aur Mrs Khanna with Salman Khan. “I’m being offered one film every day. I don’t have time to read scripts. I’ll do so in March 2009, after I finish my current lot of films including Karan Johar’s film which stars Saif Ali Khan. Normally, a Bollywood actress does about 40 days’ work. My directors are taking about 100 days with me,” she said.
